One-Day Trip To See Epcot’s Journey Of Water (The End)

Around 4 p.m. I decided that I had seen enough of Epcot for the day, so I exited through the International Gateway, which is located between France and United Kingdom. I decided to take a ride on the Skyliner and ended up getting off at Disney’s Riviera Resort. Once there I headed to one of my favorite pool bars, Bar Riva, to have a beer and chill for a while. I must stop here often enough that the bartender, Ken, recognized me from previous trips. I had a nice conversation with him before getting back on the Skyliner to ride over to Hollywood Studios to spend the rest of my evening. I headed over to Galaxy’s Edge to wander around for a bit, but just as I arrived it started to pour, so I decided I should just go over to watch Muppets 3D as it would be dry and out of the rain. When I got there, I found out they were not playing the show at that time, as they were using the theatre as a rain shelter, so I decided to sit there and relax for a bit. Once the rain let up, I decided it was probably in my best interest to slowly make my way out of Hollywood Studios and get a rideshare (I used Lyft this time) back to the airport. Earlier in the day, I had been cussing myself for bringing such a big backpack that I had to lug around all day. Normally I just carry a sling bag with a few items in it, or don’t bring a bag at all to the parks. But, thankfully I had it because even with my umbrella and poncho I was soaking wet so that complete set of clothes I brought “just in case” came in handy. I made it back to Orlando International around 8:30 to find out my flight had been delayed due to the weather. After multiple gate and flight time changes…at one point it was delayed almost 2.5 hours because our plane had been diverted to Tampa… I finally got to board about an hour after my original flight time and made it back to KC just before 1 AM. It was a long day, I walked almost 10.5 miles and spent a little over 9 hours at Disney, but I had a blast and am glad I was able to accomplish it. Next time though, if I am going on such a short trip, I will probably book an early flight one day, stay the night down there, and fly back on the late flight the next day, as it will probably take me a few days to recover from my adventure!
