Beyond The Parks: Relaxing In The “Outside World” – Day 1
This morning we got up and walked over to Cafe Rix to get coffee and breakfast. I found a sunny rocking chair to enjoy my coffee, while Marc went to pick up our rental car. We decided since we were moving to an offsite condo for the next week, that we would just rent a car for the day. That way we could go pick my parents up at the airport, get groceries before checking in, and not have to worry about where to store our stuff for the day.
Once Marc got back, we finished packing up our stuff and loaded the car. We still had about an hour to kill, so we went to check out the gift shop one last time and took one last walk around the resort. This resort is so quiet and beautiful. I love staying here, but next time I would like to stay in the Gran Destino tower, just to check it out as I have now stayed in all the other sections (Cabanas, Casitas, and Ranchos) on previous trips. After picking up my parents at the airport, we headed to Disney Springs to have lunch at The Polite Pig, before stopping for groceries and getting checked into our condo.
For this portion of the trip, we are staying at The Blue Heron Beach Resort, along the shore of Lake Bryan. The small lake is just about a mile from Disney property. The room we have has two balconies, one that overlooks the lake and the other that overlooks the city and Disney World.
Once we got settled in our room, Marc and I took the rental car back. We rented the car from one of the Disney Springs Resorts and we wanted to see if it was possible to walk to Disney Springs from the condo, so we walked back. It was a little over a mile walk. Disney Springs is about another 1/2 mile or so from the resort we returned the car to, so I’m estimating that the total distance to Disney Springs is probably around 2 miles…which is nothing, compared to the amount of walking you do at Disney.
Once we got back to the resort we relaxed and watched the sunset from our balcony.
Then we went down to soak in the hot tub, before ending the night watching Happily Ever After and Epcot Forever from our balcony.
