Beyond The Parks: Relaxing In The “Outside World” – Day 6
This morning when we got up it was super foggy. You could barely see the city or the lake from our balconies.
Marc and I decided we needed to go for a long walk as we had not officially exercised since our races last weekend. We started out by walking to Disney Springs, which was just about 2 miles from our resort.
Once we got there, we decided to walk over to Saratoga Springs Resort, which is just across the lake from Disney Springs. Here we wandered around the resort for a little bit and checked out their gift shop.
From here we decided to to walk the nature trail between Saratoga Springs and Old Key West, which is a little over a half-mile long.
Once we got to Old Key West, we walked down to the main pool area where we saw several characters meeting guests. We got pictures with Pluto, Chip, and Donald. We were going to get a coffee here, but Marc wanted one from Joffrey’s so we took the bus over to Epcot. They have a coffee shop right outside of the park, so we got iced coffees and then Ubered back to the condo around 11:00. We definitely got our exercise in this morning as this trek was around 6 miles.
This afternoon we headed over to the community of Celebration. This is a town that was developed as a master-planned community by The Walt Disney Company in the early 90s. As you drive into the community you don’t feel like you are in the Orlando Metro area anymore. Instead, it feels like you are in a small town out of a movie. The quaint downtown area has several restaurants and businesses nestled along a picturesque waterfront that offers beautiful parks and walking trails. (click on thumbnails for full-sized pictures)
We had lunch at the Downtown Diner and checked out the shops in the downtown area.
Then Mom and Dad found a rocking chair near the waterfront, while Marc and I went walking on some of the trails.
When we got back from our walk, we got ice cream and then headed back to the condo.
We hung out on the balcony for a while before Marc and I headed to Epcot for the evening and Mom and Dad stayed there to relax.
Once we got to Epcot we slowly made our way over to the American Pavilion, taking pictures along the way. It had rained for a few minutes when we first arrived, which made for some beautiful pictures with the clouds and a rainbow!
We grabbed a beer and sat down to watch the first two sets of Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. They were a lot of fun and put on a fantastic show.
We were starting to get hungry at this point so Marc got a burger and onion rings from The Regal Eagle Smokehouse and I got the Chilaquiles from the American Food and Wine Fest booth.
After eating we found a spot along the water in front of Italy to sit and wait for the nightly fireworks show, Epcot Forever. This is one of my favorite spots to watch the fireworks from. The bonus about choosing this spot tonight was it is right next door to America so we were able to listen to Big Bad Voodoo Daddy’s final set while we waited.

After the fireworks we slowly made our way to the front of the park where we got an Uber back to our resort.
