Miami, Key West, and Disney…Oh My! The January 2024 Girls Trip – Day 9 – Disney World
January 18, 2024—Cara had an early morning flight, so she was up and gone super early. I woke up around 7 am, grabbed my computer, and headed for coffee from Carousel Coffee. Then, I found a place to sit in the Belle Vue Lounge to get some work done. I also took a couple of laundry down with me and dropped it off in the laundry room to wash while I sat in the lounge. This 1930s-style lounge is located just off the lobby and is a great place to sit, relax, or work. Before Carousel Coffee opened last year, it used to serve coffee and grab-and-go breakfast items, but now it’s just a nice sitting space during the day. At 4 pm, it opens as a full-service bar, and you can enjoy a cocktail in one of the comfy chairs or outside on the verandah.
Once my laundry was done and I was finished working, I returned to the room where Sara was lounging after sleeping in. Then we got ready and headed over to the Dolphin for lunch. We ate at Cabana Bar and Beach Club, located at the main pool. I had the Roasted Mushroom Flatbread, Sara had the Shawarma Kebob, and we both ordered a couple of different types of beer.
After lunch, we headed back to the resort for the afternoon. I spent a couple of hours at the pool, relaxing in the hot tub, while Sara did laundry and relaxed in the Belle Vue Lounge.
We headed to Disney Springs for drinks, shopping, and dinner that evening. After we got our shopping out of the way, we stopped at The Polite Pig for drinks. Sara loves bourbon, so this place was on her must-do list. This restaurant, which serves a variety of smoked meats, sandwiches, and salads, has amazing food and an extensive list of bourbons. I usually try to come here to eat at least once every couple of trips. Their food is super good, and even though I don’t like bourbon, they have a good beer selection on tap.
After drinks, we headed to The Edison for our dinner reservation. This 1920s industrial gothic-themed restaurant, decorated like a 1920s electric company, is one of my favorite places to eat in Disney Springs. The atmosphere and the food are both amazing. In the evenings, there is a live band on the stage. After 10 pm, the restaurant becomes an adult-only space focused on craft cocktails and Cabaret entertainment. There are also costumed dancers, variety acts, and a DJ on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, making this a trendy hot spot.
Fun Fact: The space The Edison resides in used to house The Adventurers Club. The popular club opened in 1989 at Pleasure Island, an area of Disney Springs (formerly Downtown Disney) with multiple bars and nightclubs. It was a super fun nightclub with a loyal fan base. The club was themed like a private club for explorers and world travelers and decorated with artifacts and photos from all their adventures. It also featured adventurers who performed shows and improv comedy throughout the night.
After dinner, we slowly made our way to the bus stop to call it an early night, as tomorrow we were heading to Universal Studios for the day.
