October’s “Not So Scary” Food and Fun Trip – Day 6
I was awake by 7:30, so I decided I should go for a run. I have already walked over 50 miles so far on this trip, but I am still training for the Wine and Dine 5K and 10K in a couple of weeks so figured I should get at least a short run in. There is a great running path that goes around the main walkway at Riverside, then continues along the Sassagoula River, between Riverside and French Quarter. When I got back, I took a quick dip in the pool to cool off…the pool felt good but the walk back to the room was chilly as it was only around 60 degrees out…a stark difference from the past several days.
Once I got cleaned up and dressed I took a bus to Hollywood Studios, then jumped on the Skyliner to Epcot. The Skyliner transfers at the Caribbean Beach Resort, where I picked up a Joffrey’s Coffee. I could have just taken a bus to Epcot but I wanted to enter at the International Gateway, which is where the Skyliner drops you off. Once inside the park, I headed to France to get the Bechemel, Ham and Cheese Galette, then stopped at the Belgium Marketplace Kiosk for a Belgium Coffee, before finding a table in my favorite place in Morocco. I had some work to do this morning, and this is such a quiet peaceful place to work.
After I was done working, I walked through the International Gateway to explore some of the resorts around Crescent Lake. The first resort you come to is Disney’s Beach Club Villas. This is a Vacation Club Resort that is attached to Disney’s Beach Club Resort, and offers Studios, and one or two-bedroom villas…the latter two have full kitchens and a washer and dryer. Next, I stopped at Disney’s Beach Club Resort. This fun resort is beach-themed and even has a great beach area along Crescent Lake. And finally, I stopped at Disney’s Yacht Club. This beautiful resort has a nautical theme and is the most elegant of the three. All three are separate resorts but are attached, by either indoor hallways or covered outdoor walkways. One of the best things about staying in one of these three resorts is exclusive access to an amazing 3-acre pool that is more like a mini water park. This pool has a sandy bottom, a lazy river, a great kiddie area with a sandbar to build sandcastles, multiple hot tubs, as well as a really fun shipwreck slide, that even houses another small kids pool inside. I have stayed at Beach Club Villas several times in the past and love all the amenities this complex offers, the best of which is the 5-minute walk to Epcot’s World Showcase.

After I was done exploring, I took an Uber back to my resort. It was too chilly to take a swim, so I took a nap in the sun instead.
Around 4:30 I decided it was time to head to Epcot to see Air Supply and the new Journey of Water attraction. I was able to preview Journey when I came down for my one-day trip in Sept, but I really wanted to see it after dark. Just as I walked into Epcot, a little after 5:00, my virtual queue return was called. I had to be there by a little after 6:00, so I caught the 5:30 showing of Air Supply, then hurried over to Journey of Water. It was only 6:15 when I got into the attraction, and sunset was not until almost 7:00, so I walked through it looking for all the familiar shapes cleverly hidden in the rocks, then found a bench to sit on to wait for dark. It is still a fun interactive attraction during the day, but I liked it better at night as everything is all lit up.

My original plan was to head over to Disney Springs once I got back to the resort, for dinner and to listen to some live music, but I was tired, freezing, and didn’t want to spend any more time outside this evening. On my way out of Epcot, I was able to snag a last-minute dinner reservation at Boatwrights Dining Hall back at my resort. There were so many yummy-looking options on the menu, but I ended up ordering the Boatwright’s Jambalaya and an Abita Turbodog Ale. Both were perfect choices on this chilly evening. The Jambalaya was slightly spicy but very delicious, and the beer was a brown ale, brewed with chocolate hops, giving it a sweet chocolate-toffee-like flavor. They also brought out warm cornbread with honey butter, before the meal. I had never eaten at this restaurant before, but I will be back. After I filled my belly, I headed back to my room for a hot bath and sleep.
