October’s “Not So Scary” Food and Fun Trip – Day 9
Today was my last day here as my flight home was scheduled to leave at 7:10 this evening. I woke up around 7:30 and decided to walk over to French Quarter to explore a little bit and pick up a shirt I had seen earlier in the trip. After doing my shopping, I grabbed a coffee from The Scat Cat’s Cafe and found a table out in the courtyard to relax and enjoy it. After finishing my coffee, I wandered around the resort taking some pictures, then slowly walked back to Riverside. When I got back I called bell services to come pick up my Owners Locker, then finished packing up the rest of my stuff.
After dropping my bags at luggage storage, I took a boat to Disney Springs for lunch at The Polite Pig. This counter service restaurant features BBQ and a wide array of drinks on tap. It also features a Bourbon Bar with an extensive selection of choices. I have never had a bad meal here. Today I chose the pulled pork, which is served with coleslaw, a jalapeño cornbread muffin, and a choice of another side. I chose the Whiskey Carmel Brussel Sprouts, which are one of my favorite items on the menu. I have even been known to just stop here to order several sides as a meal. I also ordered a Ravenous Pig Lone Palm Golden Ale. It was nice and refreshing and was a good choice with my meal.
After lunch, I made my way back to Riverside via boat, and spent the rest of my afternoon exploring the resort and relaxing at the pool. I enjoyed one final beer of the trip, the Abita Purple Haze.
Around 5:00 I picked up my luggage from Bell Services and called an Uber to take me to the airport. My flight ended up being delayed by about 30-40 minutes but made up some time and landed only 15 minutes late in Wichita. I had a great trip but it’s time to head home for a couple of weeks. I will fly back down on November 1st to run in the Wine and Dine 5K and 10K that weekend. So be sure to follow along for those adventures.
